Built for where organic waste is generated
From airports to universities: our plug-and-play system turns organic waste into valuable fertiliser onsite, in just two days.
Berlin pilot
Building a local nutrient loop in the heart of Berlin.
As part of the 100m Zukunft initiative, foom is launching its first urban pilot to demonstrate how organic waste can be transformed into valuable fertiliser directly where it is generated.
Located at the corner of Fasanenstraße and Hardenbergstraße, the pilot brings together leading partners from the private sector, the public sector and waste management to demonstrate a new model for resilient, circular cities.
Launch in Spring 2027

A partnership across the entire value chain
The Berlin pilot brings together partners covering every step of the local nutrient cycle.
How the pilot works
-
IHK Berlin, Hotel Indigo and TU Berlin generate food waste.
-
Waste haulers load the food waste into the foom container.
-
The foom container transforms it into high-quality organic fertiliser within two days.
-
The Parks and Green Spaces Department of Berlin applies the fertiliser to public green spaces.
Why Berlin?
Cities generate large amounts of organic waste every day while simultaneously importing fertilisers and managing public green spaces.
The Berlin pilot demonstrates how both challenges can be addressed locally by recovering nutrients directly where waste is produced.
Pilot location
Fasanenstraße / Hardenbergstraße, 10623 Berlin, Germany
